GCSE and A-level students in Somerset schools and colleges will be able to sit exams as normal after a teachers’ union called off a proposed strike.
The NUT was due to walk out in the week beginning June 23, coinciding with the end of the exam season.
The NUT is postponing the action to progress talks with the Government, but warns it will strike on July 10 – a date when other unions are also considering striking – if talks hit a deadlock.
The NUT is in dispute over pay, pensions and working conditions.
