The Devon County Show is offering a full refund to everyone who bought tickets in advance but was unable to use them on Saturday, May 24.

The decision was made at a Board of Management meeting of the Devon County Agricultural Association (DCAA) held on Monday, May 26.

DCAA Chairman of the Board of Management, John Maunder, said: “Whilst the abandonment of the Show was forced on us by the extreme weather conditions, and will have a significant financial impact, we want to do right by our paying visitors.

“Without their support we would not have a Devon County Show, and the Board felt that we should stand by them, just as I hope that they will stand by us.”

The Show will put a form on its website by Wednesday morning. Anyone with unused purchased Saturday tickets should download the form and return it, along with their tickets; for e-tickets, complete the form and return it. Applications should be made by Monday, June 30 at the latest. Refunds will be made by the end of July.

The third day of the Show on Saturday was abandoned for the first time in the Show’s history in the interests of public safety following exceptional levels of rainfall which made the car parks potentially unsafe.

John Maunder added: “There is a lot to do to address the financial implications and to repair the site, however the team will soon be working on next year’s Show which will be held on May 21-23.”
