CUTTING-EDGE science gets its first-ever Sedgemoor celebration this May half-term with an exciting not-for-profit festival.

Aiming to inspire and engage children and families, Bridgwater Science Festival will be held across various town centre venues, featuring a rich mix from the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Among those with a passion for science on board, are Somerset Archaeology, the Natural History Society and Fizz Pop Science.

The Great Crane Project, Somerset Wildlife Trust and EDF are also in on the action, along with Exeter University, Robert Blake Science School and Bridgwater College academics.

A selection of activities are fixed, from talks on outer space, to best-selling author Simon Singh, pictured, revealing the mathematical themes smuggled in The Simpsons.

There is also a hands-on exhibition set for Saturday May 31, along with a “chaotic” science open mic.

Bridgwater Science Festival 2014 takes place from Monday to Saturday, May 26-31 – for full event details, visit bridgwaterscience.wordpress.com/events
