A MUCH needed break was enjoyed by two victims of the flooding on the Somerset Levels last week when they enjoyed a free stay in Porlock.

Stuart and Shirley Jamieson from Moorland were just two of the dozens of people whose homes and livelihood was ruined by the floods.

They were welcomed with open arms to Rose Bank B&B in the West Somerset village thanks to owner John Stenner.

Mr Stenner came up with the plan to give flood victims some respite earlier this year and soon after, restaurants, accommodation providers and other tourism outlets offered treats as well.

FLAG has now distributed over 50 accommodation vouchers including free cream teas and train rides on the West Somerset Railway.

Mrs Jamieson expressed her thanks and said although they weren’t planning a break; it was just what they both needed.
