BUSINESSES in the flood-affected area on the Somerset Levels have received cash from a grant scheme.
The Government Business Support Scheme fund in Sedgemoor has awarded five grants of £2,500 and one of £1,095.
The works funded include non-recoverable insurance excesses for repair or replacement of buildings, equipment or stock, removal of debris, additional business accommodation or staff costs, structural surveys, security measures, additional marketing, clean-up, repair and drying of business premises, business continuity planning, replacement of damaged stock and loss of trade.
A Sedgemoor District Council spokesman said: “Another five business owners currently have applications being considered by Sedgemoor’s Economic Development team.
“Support from the scheme fund is available to small- and medium-sized businesses to develop and implement business recovery plans.”
Alongside this, a Repair and Renewal scheme, which provides up to £5,000 per flood-affected home or business, is available.
Sedgemoor is currently considering domestic property applications and hopes to begin awarding funding this week.
Other help includes council tax and business rates relief, flood loans up to £15,000 from Wessex Homes Loans, a free pest control service, free oil tank advice, and advice on planning and permission to site a mobile home.
