A YEOVIL man has died following a road traffic collision last night (May 19).

The 31-year-old, who has not been formally identified yet, was a pillion passenger when the motorcycle rider, a 42-year-old man from Frome, was involved in a collisison with a tractor travelling in the opposite direction at around 5.10pm.

The incident happened from Wanstrow to Nunney Catch roundabout along the A359.

The pillion passenger was seriously injured and later died at the scene.

The rider was also seriously injured and was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol where he remains in a critical condition.

Collision investigators are appealing for witnesses.

They are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a white van and the driver of a Kia motor vehicle, who were both travelling towards Nunney Catch around the time of the collision and stopped at the scene.

Police believe both drivers may have witnessed the incident and could have information that is vital to the investigation.

Anyone able to help should call 101.
