THE Zero Project is holding an Under 18’s Glow in the Dark Party tonight (May 28) from 7pm – 11pm at Club Neo, Stars Lane, Yeovil. Entry is £5 payable on the door.
There will be Glow in the Dark freebies and activities as well as a lively mix of club music from resident DJ, Clifty.
The Zero Project, who have been successfully running under 18 events during school holidays for the past 7 years for year 9 students upwards, has recently been awarded funding from Somerset County Council and the Avon and Somerset’s Commissioner’s Community Action Fund. This funding will ensure the sustainability of the project for the next year and continued focus on the projects aims which are reducing anti-social behaviour and binge drinking through specialist youth work and education as well as taking forward the Zero’s Young Promoter’s initiative involving year 9, 10 and 11 students from the three academy schools in Yeovil, which has seen two of the promoters recently gain their Asdan national accreditation for their work towards the events.
Councillor Ian Martin commented, “The Zero Project in Club Neo is quite unique and is a marvellous opportunity for young people to come along and have a safe and enjoyable experience in a real night club. I would actively encourage young people throughout Yeovil, particularly those who have recently supported resurrected youth facilities, in Forest Hill, Abbey Manor and Westfield to come along and try Project Zero.”
Zero Project events attract in excess of 300 young people from across Somerset and Dorset and are supported by the local Police, District Council, schools, youth organisations and parents.
Zero provides a safe, alcohol free environment where young people can enjoy a good night of music and dance. Parents are expected to ensure that their children have a safe route home and the Zero team endeavours to ensure a safe passage to the nearby Stars Lane car park at the end of the evening. A further event is being planned for Wednesday 23rd July at Club Neo.
