ATHLETES took part in the gruelling Taunton Deane Francis Clarke Triathlon in Wellington.

More than 300 competitors took part across the sprint and novice events on Sunday (May 18), which got under way at the sports centre on Corams Lane.

The sprint race saw athletes tackle a 400m swim, 22km bike and 5km run, with competitors in the novice event doing a 200m swim, 12km bike and 2.5km run.

William Collins won the men's sprint event in 1 hour 15 seconds, while the ladies' race was won by Bex Gynne-Jones in 1 hour 9 minutes.

The novice event was won by Alistair Clark in 47 minutes 15 seconds, with Rebecca Oatley winning the ladies' race in 55 minutes 10 seconds.
