PUPILS in Norton Fitzwarren will be able to get around safely when the winter nights set in again – thanks to a donation of hi-vis wrist bands.

Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey donated 100 fluorescent bands to the village primary school, so pupils can be seen by drivers during the walk to and from school.

Janine Copleston, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey, said: “Nowadays, there is a real concern about the amount of time children spend outside being active and walking to school is an ideal way to help them get more exercise – but it’s important they can be seen clearly by motorists.

“We hope our high-visibility slap bands will help keep the children safe and encourage them to walk to school more regularly.

“More children walking will also help minimise the number of cars on the road at the beginning and end of the school day.”
