AN AMBULANCE was called to Taunton town centre today (May 13) after a shopper fell over in the street.

Reports state that the accident happened at around 1.39pm outside Boots on High Street, Taunton, and the person involved suffered a back injury.

It is not clear yet as to whether the person injured was male or female, but South Western Ambulance Service confirmed that the patient was treated at the scene and did not require treatment in hospital.

I am not at all surprised. The pavement in High Street is so bad it was an accident waiting to happen - and obviously one did. High Street is a nightmare, you really do have to look where you are walking, must be particularly bad for old folk. Maybe one day it will be completely resurfaced (tarmacked) and not dug up again 2 weeks later. I live in hope.

It's nothing to do with drainage, the works in Taunton are for water supply upgrades - you know, we all like to drink the clean and safe water from our taps........

Please feel free to take a walk in the high street and look at the lovely new drains that have been put in! (if you can see past the end of your nose you will see them)
