RAIN showers didn’t stop visitors having fun last weekend at Taunton’s Vintage Bus Display & Running Day.

The traditional double-deckers and ‘half cab’ single-deckers were on show and also took passengers out to Wellington and Rockwell Green.

There were also trips to Bishops Lydeard Station and the West Somerset Railway as well as the chance to walk around Castle Green and look at some highly thought-of vehicles from the past 100 years.

Event organiser and bus fanatic Peter Snowden was among the helpers on the day and was dressed in his fetching conductor attire.

The vintage bus event followed a successful first year back in 2013 where Taunton folk and visitors from around Somerset enjoyed reliving the good old days of travel.

Les Wood, from Taunton, said: “My sons had an enjoyable day at the vintage bus day. They travelled on the one to Wellington I believe and then went to Stoke St Gregory.”

Kala-Rae Adams, from Taunton, said: “We had a great time. My little boy, who is two, thought they were all amazing.

“He loved exploring around the different buses and going on an open top bus was the highlight of his day.”
