IAN Bradbury, head teacher of three West Somerset schools has resigned.

The announcement was made yesterday (May 7), in a letter to parents from Cerys Randell, chair of the governors.

Last week, the County Gazette reported how Mr Bradbury had been absent from his post since before Easter.

No explanation was given regarding the head of Danesfield Academy, St Peter's School and Old Cleeve 's absence.

Following Mr Bradbury's resignation, Dan Perry will lead the schools on a day to day basis with Nigel Johnson as his deputy.

Rob Benzie, recently retired head of Ansford Academy in Castle Cary will be providing strategic leadership and support for staff on an interim basis while arrangements are made for a permanent leadership appointment.

The letter goes on to say: "The governors wish to place on record their appreciation of Ian's achievements and wish him well in the future as he moves into a new phase of his life and career.

"We are confident that these interim arrangements will ensure that the education of all our children will not be adversely affected by leadership changes."

More to follow.

It appears that 'Sellotapegate' was the beginning of the end for Mr Bradbury - he's well and truly come unstuck! But why did he go - will we ever be told the TRUTH???

Do we need to know, this is private and should be kept that way. People shouldn't be so nosy.

Terrya59 what gives you the right to know this private matter? Breached your trust? He cannot be solely responsible for the Sellotape incident. If he has done something wrong it will come out in the long run. You power-happy negative minded parents all have what you wanted now, he's gone. Why don't you concentrate on something important, like your children's future. May I also point out that after Bradbury being there a long time, there will be big changes. What are you going to do then, kick up a fuss and demand heads on plates?

I have children at this school and have always found the headmaster very approachable,I think the majority of problems stem from staff having to deal with pupils whose parents have never taught them who to show respect to and how to behave, everyone complains but the new head may have far more radical ideas and there will still be whining parents.

Some kids these days are out of control and in my day would have been punished accordingly. You can't do that these days and that is where the problem lies. I wouldn't want to be a teacher in this age, the kids have the upper hand, it is all so wrong.
