WITH 100 beers to check out and The Bad Shepherds secured to play, Newt Beer Fest promises to serve up another exciting weekend this summer.

A one-month window is left to buy limited tickets for the July 11-12 event, with sales closing on Wednesday June 13. Whether it’s a good pint or a draught of punk you’re after, there’ll be plenty to sample.

Comic actor Ade Edmonson joins his fellow folk-punk pedlars in The Bad Shepherds to headline the Saturday night’s music after a long-fought battle to have them play, says organiser Frank Clegg.

“We approached them months and months ago, way before Christmas, and started talking,” said Frank.

“I think the idea of playing a beer festival struck on Adrian’s box.”

As ever the 23rd festival is fundraising chiefly for North Newton Community Primary School, which last year benefit from over £8,000 generated.

The Newt team is also inviting individuals to work the festival to pass on their wages to the Flooding on the Levels Action Group in support of those worst hit by the winter floods.

Some North Newton School pupils were also affected by the flooding devastation. Thankfully, says Frank, Newt Fest’s field is in good shape.

Bands The Skimmity Hitchers, The Glambusters, The Shamones, Kolo, Kernow Vibration, Slapface & The Hoagies and (In Brackets) will also play across the two days, spanning ska-punk, indie, folk and rock music.

TICKETS cost £35 for an advance festival weekend ticket with camping, or £25 without – visit www.newtfest.com to book.
