THE Yeovil in Living Memory Calendar, which has been produced by South Somerset District Council’s Heritage Team at the Community Heritage Access Centre (CHAC) for the past two years, has impressed The Arts Council so much that they have been awarded a grant of £2000.

The Heritage Team applied for funding from the Arts Council to produce the 2015 Yeovil in Living Memory calendar under the Small Grant, Big Improvement scheme. The Arts Council were so impressed by previous calendars that they awarded the maximum grant of £2000 to the Heritage Team to produce and promote next year’s calendar.

Competition was fierce for funding from the scheme and staff at CHAC are proud that they are only one of two museum facility’s in the whole of the South West of England that was awarded the full £2000 grant.

This means that more calendars will be produced for 2015 to enable demand to be met as the calendars have fully sold out in the previous two years. The calendar will be extensively promoted and available from more outlets.

Councillor Sylvia Seal, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture said, “The profit that is made from the calendar sales goes towards looking after the historic collection at CHAC and it also means that producing the calendar secures the production of the calendar in future years”.
