HAYGROVE trampolining star Sophie Churchill just missed out competed in the national schools finals in Newcastle.
Sophie was first in the under-19 individual after her first two routines but had the award snapped from her grasp in the final round to come second.
The under-15 team of Emily Rossiter, Maisie White, Megan Kellaway and Chloe Arlow, who qualified for the Nationals at the Southern Zonal Championships in Kent, travelled with Sophie.
The girls finished just outside the medals in fourth place nationally.
Haygrove PE teacher Sarah Gallagher said: “Congratulations to all the girls. Competing at this level is a great experience and will give the younger ones lots of confidence.
“I’m proud of Sophie – she competed successfully with the very best of her age group and walked away as second in the UK.”
