WORKSHOPS for people interested in researching ancestors who served in the First World War are being offered at the Somerset Heritage Centre this month.

They take place next Wednesday, May 7, at 2.30pm, and on Tuesday, May 13, at 7pm.

Archivist Liz Grant will show people how to use sources such as newspapers, school records, online resources and information from national institutions, to research a variety of First World War-related topics.

David Hall, Somerset County Council cabinet member for heritage services, said: “The stories which emerge from First World War research are powerful reminders of what the war meant to Somerset.

“These workshops are an opportunity to get started on a fascinating journey into the past.”

The workshops last an hour and a half and cost £5.
