A 30 year contract has been handed to Homes in Sedgemoor to manage 4,200 council homes in Sedgemoor.

At Sedgemoor District Council's Executive Committee meeting last Wednesday, the council approved the new management agreement to allow Homes in Sedgemoor to continue managing council houses in the district.

The new agreement also allows Homes in Sedgemoor, who have been managing council houses in Sedgemoor since 2007, to build and manage additional properties, deliver extra services and to work more closely with the council.

Cllr Duncan McGinty, leader of the council, said: “I am pleased that Homes in Sedgemoor will continue to manage the Councils housing stock for the long term.

“Tenant's views have been central to the review process and it was clear from the outset that they wanted Homes in Sedgemoor to continue the management of their homes.

“Now the new management agreement is in place, the council is very much looking forward to working with Homes in Sedgemoor and tenants in the continuation of what has been a genuine partnership, to deliver more council homes and additional services for our tenants.”

Dawn Lang, chief executive of Homes in Sedgemoor, said: “This process has truly taken on board the views of tenants and it is a really positive outcome for them.

“The new Management Agreement provides us with a sound basis on which to move forward and is absolutely great news for tenants and staff.”
