THE Mayor of Taunton has expressed her excitement ahead of a weekend jam-packed with talent at the town’s Brewhouse Theatre.

Cllr Libby Lisgo will be hosting the Mayor’s Tone Talent Variety Show on Saturday (April 26) which promises to bring a spectacular day and night of entertainment, including an appearance from ’80s star Howard Jones.

The Brewhouse closed its doors last April after going into ad-ministration.

However, the theatre was given a reprieve when a five-year lease was agreed by Taunton Deane Council and the Taunton Theatre Association community group, and the theatre reopened earlier this month.

Cllr Lisgo believes with the right support and interaction from theatre fans, the Brewhouse can thrive.

Leading up to the variety show, she said: “I’m really looking forward to the event.

“For me, the show is about two things: firstly, it’s a chance for local talent of different ages doing different things and, secondly, it’s a fundraiser with half the proceeds going to the Brewhouse.”

Tone Talent will feature entertainers such as The Big Noise, Filta, The Rivertones, Laura Lexx, The Space, Elise Yuill and many more.

There will also be performances from students at Taunton School, The Castle School and Taunton Academy.

There are two shows – at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
