6:00pm Tuesday 22nd April 2014 in News
AN auction of promises at Ashill Primary School raised an incredible £7,000.
The school’s parents, teachers and friends association organised the event to raise money for new IT equipment.
More than 80 people packed into the village hall and top bids included: weekends in Normandy and Cornwall; a day at Taunton Races with a hospitality box for ten people and a race named after the bidder; and a day’s shooting.
Tilly Layzell-Smith, from Ashill PTFA, said: “It was a truly enjoyable evening for a wonderful cause. Everyone had a great night and we’re delighted it’s been so successful.”
Head teacher David Scotney said: “It’s so great to see everyone pulling together to support the school and the children.
“I would like to thank everyone who attended the auction, auctioneer Charles Clarke, the hugely supportive local businesses and members of the community who donated promises for the event and, last but not least, I’d like to thank the staff and our PTFA whose tenacity and drive made this event such a huge success.”
