HOME-START West Somerset is celebrating after receiving a new certificate of Quality Assurance accredited by Home-Start UK and endorsed by the Charity Commission.

The award recognises that they are meeting national quality standards and offers consistently high quality support to local families.

Home-Start West Somerset is a local charity which supports families who are experiencing difficulties.

They recruit and train volunteers to support parents.

Scheme manager Ali Sanderson said: “The Home-Start West Somerset team is passionate about providing families with excellent support so we're delighted to receive this award that acknowledges the high quality of our work and practises.

“For us, quality is not only what we put into our service; it is what Home-Start families and children get out of it.”

Home-Start West Somerset is one of only four of the 338 Home-Start schemes across the UK to have met all the requirements of the Charity Commission.

Sam Younger, chief executive of the Charity Commission said: “We are always delighted when a charity is awarded a quality mark from one of the quality systems we have endorsed.
