OVER £2,500 was raised last week for the County Gazette-backed Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment appeal to equip the Beacon Centre cancer facility at Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital.
Donations included: an anonymous £2; £32.71 from the collection box at Cartridge World; £59.06 from the collection box at the Esso petrol station in Wellington Road; £71.75 from Barbara Squire; £600 from Chris and John Cann from bingo sessions; £15 from Helen Whitcombe, of Street; £15 from Taunton Bowling Club; £1,500 from Polden Hills YFC following a cheese and wine summer sizzler event; and £85 from Stokes Partners solicitors.
There were 5p coin collections of £17.50 from Andrew and Tina Potter, family and friends, £10.60 from George Roberts, £2,15 from A. Sutton, £23.70 from Mr and Mrs Baker, and £91.90 from the Beacon Centre.
This week’s total takes the amount raised since SURE linked up with the Gazette to £403,819.37.
