AN agriculture student from Wiveliscombe has become the first Bridgwater College graduate from the Future Farming Group.
Mathew Woollaston, 21, has graduated from the group set up in 2011 by leading agricultural organisations from across the South-West.
He undertook a three-month work placement at Alvis Bothers where he learnt all aspects of the successful cheese-making business.
He also did a placement at the Dairy Farm at the Bristol University Vet School in Langford, and won the Further and Higher Education award at the 2014 Dairy Career Awards.
He said: “All of this experience has been a great eye opener to the industry and the roles within it. It has educated me in the management processes and the work put in behind the scenes to create great British produce.”
