LADIES across Taunton Deane and West Somerset have joined in the #nomakeupselfie craze sweeping across social media... but it's not just women getting in on the act.

Over the past week, pictures of bare-faced ladies have been appearing on Facebook and Twitter but at first nobody was quite sure why.

What started out as a bit of fun has become associated with raising money and awareness for Cancer Research UK.

Despite the hashtag not being started by the cancer charity, it has jumped on board to promote the trend and thank everyone for their support.

Now, men have been challenged to do the opposite and post pictures of themselves wearing make-up, with a combined £8million being raised for charity to date.

We asked Gazette readers to send in their selfies and the brave few here were willing to show their bare faces (or not, in the case of the boys...) Scroll down for more.
