HIGHWAYS bosses have taken extra steps to stop people driving along a 70m stretch of road in Ilminster where huge cracks have opened up.
New Road, on the northern edge of the town known as Cemetery Hill, has been closed for around five weeks amid fears that it could fall down a slope.
Home owners have had to park their cars away from their houses as Somerset County Council’s highways team continues to monitor movement in the road surface.
The News reporter Daniel Milligan will launch a petition at noon tomorrow (Thursday) next to Ilminster Market for people to sign if they agree that something needs to be done to fix this road as soon as possible.
Let him know what questions you want put to Somerset County Council about the road closure.
