A FATHER accused of causing huge traffic disruption by staging a protest on a bridge dressed as Spiderman is due to go on trial in May.

Michael Waldron, 31, of Queen’s Road, Wellington denies causing a public nuisance on September 24 last year.

Mr Waldron is said to have tied himself to the bridge over the Toneway causing the road into Taunton, as well as Junction 25 of the M5, to shut for three hours, resulting in chaos for rush hour motorists.

He appeared at Taunton Crown Court on Friday (March 21) in relation to the production of cannabis, which he admitted in November.

Mr Waldron was ordered to pay £1,400 under the Proceeds of Crime Act and was bailed until he is tried on the public nuisance matter.

A provisional trial date was set for May.
