A KEEN cyclist from Yeovil will ride between 20 sports centres for charity later this year.

Will Harris is taking on the epic 350-mile cycle for Macmillan Cancer Support, which is the designated 1610 Charity of the Year.

Will, a 22 year old team leader at Stanchester Sports Centre, near Yeovil will set off on Monday May,12, at 9am off from his workplace in Stoke-sub Hamdon and cycle to four 1610 centres at Preston Sports Centre in Yeovil, Dorchester, Crewkerne and Cresta Leisure Centre in Chard during the first day of his epic trip.

He will then depart from Cresta Leisure Centre in Chard to Holsworthy Leisure Centre in North Devon on Day 2 of the cycle ride.

Day three will be spent cycling to all of 1610 centres in North Devon at Torrington and Torridge before heading for Dulverton and the Exmoor Fitness Centre before finishing the day at Minehead at the West Somerset Sports & Leisure Centre.

On Day four Will heads for Taunton and the Castle Sports Centre and at the 1610 HQ at Hestercombe House before visiting centres in Bridgwater and at Highbridge.

The final leg of his journey on day five will take him from King Alfred’s Leisure Centre at Highbridge to centres at Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet, Castle Cary and then finally arriving back at Stanchester Sports Centre in the afternoon.

He said: "I am obviously physically fit because of my age and job and I have taken part in endurance charity bike rides before so I know what to expect.

"I am just hoping for good weather and lots of support from local people who will sponsor me. I know my colleagues at 1610 will be cheering me on at the various centres on route to keep my spirits up and I hope to raise a lot of money for such a brilliant charity as Macmillan Cancer Support.”
