NOT-for-private-profit organisations in West Somerset are being encouraged to take part in a new survey which could help them enjoy more support and funding in the future.

Cascade and the Community Council for Somerset (CCS), jointly co-ordinate the Grassroots Social Enterprise Network in Somerset.

As part of their efforts to support ‘not-for-privateprofit organisations, they are currently undertaking a mapping survey to identify current support needs and demand.

Evidence from the survey will be used to tailor and develop relevant services and resources and to further support growth in this area.

The survey will be launched in West Somerset and rolled out countrywide.

Cllr Karen Mills said: “We are extremely pleased that such action to identify the needs of our social enterprise organisations is taking place.

“It is important that we are all working together to support this so that further development and growth is possible in this area”.

Keeley Rudd, community involvement manager for CCS added: “We know that the South West is particularly strong in creating resilient, sustainable, socially focused businesses attracting significant investment and providing local jobs.

“Somerset clearly has a major part to play in this and we want to know the extent to which Somerset’s social and community enterprise contributes to the economic wellbeing of the LEP area.

“This survey is very important and we urge people to complete the survey and to encourage others to do the same.”
