WEST Somerset College’s annual Lambing Fun Day saw over 1100 visitors to the College Farm, making it the most successful to date.
The day, organised by the College’s land-based staff and students, gave members of the public the chance to visit the farm to meet the animals.
Sophie Stephens, Farm technician, who coordinated the event said: “It was a fantastic day and the support from the local community, parents and students was very much appreciated, there were lots of families and it created a lovely atmosphere.
“It’s great to see the event growing in popularity.”
Families were able to take part in a range of activities including bottle feeding the lambs, cuddle corner, children’s craft activities and face painting.
Animal Care students assisted tutor Lee Jenkins in carrying out a fantastic exotic animal show giving visitors the chance to learn about the range of exotic animals housed at the College.
Farm supervisor Derek Brown said: “The students really conveyed their enthusiasm for the farm to the general public, answering questions and sharing their knowledge.
“We received lots of positive comments on how helpful the students were.”
The College would like to thank all the parents and students that helped to make the day so successful.
The College Farm will be open to visitors again from 10am-3pm on Saturday May 17 for a range of farm activities suitable for all the family.
