THIS handy student has been showing off her culinary skills in the kitchen.
Katie Bushill, who attends Queen’s College in Taunton, has won the district final of the RIBI (Rotary International in Britain and Ireland) Young Chef Competition.
She beat off competition from ten other schools when asked to prepare a three course meal for two people costing less than £15 in just two hours.
Katie had to take into account food presentation skills, food hygiene, organisation and planning and was judged on her ability to cope in a demanding situation.
The budding chef will next compete at the regional final in Redruth on March 29 where the final eight will be entered into the national final.
Queen’s headmaster Chris Alcock said: “The standard at the district final was exceptionally high and to be announced as the winner is a huge honour.
“We are so proud of Katie who has blossomed here at Queen’s College and has found a real passion in life.”
