A TEAM of 11 supporters of the Flooding on the Levels Action Group (FLAG) is abseiling down County Hall, Taunton, on April 4 to raise money for the chairman of Somerset County Council's chosen charities.
All funds raised will be equally divided between Somerset Community Foundation's flood appeal, the National Autistic Society and the Somerset Trust for Arts and Recreation.
Among the daredevils is Bridgwater councillor Leigh Redman. He told the Mercury: “This event is being used as an additional fundraising event as part of other fundraising for the chairman of SCC's chosen charities this year.
“I did an abseil many years ago with the fire service. Heights don't bother me, the fall is the problem.
“But I'm looking forward to taking this opportunity to raise money for these great causes.”
Cllr Justine Baker added: “I have been part of FLAG since the start of the year and we started round a kitchen table and now have an HQ in Burrowbridge and a massive distribution centre in Bridgwater.”
