CRIME rates in some areas of Taunton have been almost slashed in half in the last three years, according to the latest figures from the police national crime database.
Monthly figures published on www.police.uk show the number of crimes in each of the eight wards which Taunton is broken up into and a brief summary of what each crime consisted of.
The latest figures are from January this year and people can also find out how many crimes took place on their street each month dating back to December 2010.
The Halcon ward noticed the biggest drop in January crimes, falling from 110 in 2011 to 63 this year, while Eastgate, which covers the East Reach area noticed the highest number of crimes (163) but that was still a drop from 210 offences in January 2011.
Taunton's most well-behaved area was Killams and Mountfield, which only experienced 12 crimes.
The county town's other wards include Blackbrook and Holway, which saw 36 crimes, Fairwater, where there was 85 offences in January, Lyngford North, which noticed 56 crimes, Manor and Wilton had 30 wrongdoings reported, and Pyrland and Rowbarton, where 55 felonies were committed.

1. Taunton Blackbrook and Holway: 36 crimes - 12 anti-social behaviour, 10 vehicle crimes, 4 criminal damage and arson, 3 violence and sexual offences, 2 other thefts, 2 public disorder, 1 burglary, 1 drugs, 1 shoplifting.
Compares to 35 crimes reported in January 2013, 28 in January 2012, and 39 in January 2011.
2. Taunton Eastgate: 161 crimes - 66 anti-social behaviour, 35 shoplifting, 22 violence and sexual offences, 13 drugs, 8 other thefts, 6 public order, 3 vehicle crime, 2 burglary, 2 criminal damage and arson, 2 possession of weapons, 1 bicycle theft, 1 other crime.
Compares to 172 in January 2013, 187 in January 2012, and 210 in January 2011.
3. Taunton Fairwater: 85 crimes - 31 anti-social behaviour, 10 vehicle crimes , 8 criminal damage and arson, 8 other thefts, 7 burglary, 5 drugs, 4 shoplifting, 4 bicycle thefts, 3 violence and sexual offences, 3 public order, 1 other crime, 1 theft from a person.
Compares to 72 in January 2013, 92 in January 2011, and 75 in January 2011.
4. Taunton Halcon: 63 crimes - 30 anti-social behaviour, 8 criminal damage and arson, 5 other thefts, 4 drugs, 4 violence and sexual offences, 4 vehicle crime, 4 shoplifting, 1 bicycle theft, 1 burglary, 1 public order, 1 possession of a weapon.
Compares to 90 crimes in January 2013, 78 in January 2012, and 110 in January 2011.
5. Taunton Killams and Mountfield: 12 crimes - 5 drugs, 3 vehicle crime, 1 anti-social behaviour, 1 bicycle theft, 1 other theft, 1 violence and sexual offence.
Compares to 9 crimes in January 2013, 10 in January 2012, and 15 in January 2011.
6. Taunton Lyngford North: 56 crimes - 22 anti-social behaviour, 8 violence and sexual offences, 6 criminal damage and arson, 6 shoplifting, 4 vehicle crime, 2 bicycle theft, 2 burglary, 2 other theft, 2 public disorder, 1 drugs, 1 other crime.
Compares to 46 in January 2013, 47 in January 2012, and 61 in January 2011.
7. Taunton Manor and Wilton: 30 crimes - 9 anti-social behaviour, 6 criminal damage and arson, 4 violence and sexual offences, 3 burglary, 2 bicycle theft, 2 other theft, 2 vehicle crime, 1 drugs, 1 public order.
Compares to 52 in January 2013, 39 in January 2012, and 59 in January 2011.
8. Taunton Pyrland and Rowbarton: 55 crimes - 31 anti-social behaviour, 6 vehicle crime, 5 shoplifting, 4 criminal damage and arson, 3 violence and sexual offences, 2 drugs, 2 other theft, 1 bicycle theft, 1 burglary.
Compares to 50 in January 2013, 42 in January 2012, and 58 in January 2011.
