A RETIREMENT party has been held for the executive chairman of Abbeyfield retirement properties in Burnham.

A buffet was held at Abbeyfield Woodlands in Berrow Road which saw residents, staff, committee members and volunteers bid farewell to executive chairman Mike Baker.

About two dozen people attended, including Deputy Mayor, Pauline Pollard.

Mr Baker was presented with a Service Award Certificate for 24 years in a variety of positions on the executive committee. He was given a card signed by all and a holiday voucher presented by Nigel Brown, past treasurer, in the absence of the present chairman due to family commitments.

Mr Baker said: “It was lovely to see so many friends, and I thank everyone for their hard work over the years.”
