Somerset floods: Rail misery to continue as Taunton to Bridgwater track remains closed

THE rail line between Taunton and Bridgwater looks set to be closed for the foreseeable future as it remains submerged under 18 inches of water.

A spokesperson from First Great Western said: “Until this recedes Network Rail cannot assess the extent of any damage or give any timescale for a return of services between Bristol and Taunton.

“Once work starts we will work with Network Rail to devote the same effort to Somerset as has been seen elsewhere.”

Replacement coaches are currently operating between the two stations.
