AISHA Bellamy might resemble world music star Taylor Swift but it is not just looks that the two have in common.

The teenage singing sensation will soon be belting out some of the American's most famous hits across the UK after being snapped up as the singer-songwriter's impersonator.

The 17-year-old, of Galmington, Taunton, is hoping the deal will open the door to her own glittering music career.

Aisha said: “Taylor is my idol and one of my biggest influences getting into music, so I'm excited but scared at the same time.

“I must have gone three years listening to only her, so it will be great to perform her music to crowds. I hope to do this for a few years and then carry on writing and performing my own music, hopefully with a record deal.”

It came about when Aisha, a former student at the Castle School, approached Oake Manor Golf Club to ask if they would be interested in her performing some of Taylor's songs there.

An audition followed and her performance was so eye-catching they put her in touch with a music agent, who is in the process of arranging further gigs.

“It's a long way from performing in my bedroom or smaller venues but I'm looking forward to it,” said Aisha, who is making a name for herself in pubs and music clubs across the area.

The teen, who studies performing arts at Bridgwater College, has already captivated audiences in The Plough, The Castle Green, Milverton Music Club and many more, playing a mix of covers and some of her own material.

This week, she was asked to play at the UK Country Radio festival in Worcestershire in June.

Aisha said: “When I was younger I was in the choir and thought I wasn't good enough to sing, but one day I thought I'm just going to go out there and see what people think.

“So far it's going good and I love writing and performing. A lot of my music is based on real life experiences that come to you in a moment of inspiration.

“I've got a lot of things on at the minute and I hope more to come.”

You can see Aisha perform at the Ring of Bells on St James Street, Taunton during its ale festival this Saturday (March 1).
