FAMILIES in Burnham will soon be able to swim in a brand new £1.9 million pool at a local holiday park.
Burnham Holiday Village is close to finishing construction work the new pool, where it will be officially opened by Liam Phillips, Olympics BMX rider, on March 28.
Ryan Matthews, assistant leisure manager, said: “It got decided about two years ago that the pool needed a makeover.
“The nearest pool is the Burnham swimming pool but it's a standard pool. Our pool is would be great for the children with all the features it will have.”
The work will expand the current pool so it will go from being able to have a maximum of 85 people to a maximum of 140 people.
The new pool will also have several water features including a slide and a mushroom that squirts out water.
Construction started on the pool in November and, despite the bad weather, has managed to stay on schedule.
Mr Matthews said: “It's taken a long time to get it started. We have been working seven days a week to get the project done.
“The building contractors fell behind due to the heavy rain but they managed to get right back on track.”
“We have a really good relationship with King Alfred School so hopefully the children there will visit the new pool when it's done.”
