TV personality Lorraine Kelly is calling on everyone who loves making tasty treats to don their aprons, grab a wooden spoon and bake a cake for the annual Help for Heroes Colossal Cake Sale.

Help for Heroes hopes thousands of its supporters will hold a community bake sale between April 19 and May 5.

Whether selling cakes in the office, holding a bake sale at school or organising a cake sale in the local shopping mall, every cupcake, brownie and coffee cake sold will help provide support to those who have suffered life-changing injuries and their families.

With 10,535 British men and women injured in the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, and combat stress estimating that 40,000 servicemen and women will suffer from some form of invisible injury over the coming years, Help for Heroes has stressed the importance of the need to provide lifelong support.

The funds raised by the Colossal Cake Sale will help the Charity continue to deliver direct support to wounded service personnel and veterans.

Lorraine Kelly, patron of Help for Heroes, said: “We all want to do our bit for Help for Heroes so how about holding a cake sale?

It can be as small or as big as you like. You can have fun and raise money so please join us.”

Every organiser will receive a fundraising pack including Help for Heroes wristbands, lapel pins, collecting tins, bunting, balloons and stickers – register your event on the website at www.colossalcakesale.org.uk
