BRITISH Heart Foundation Day was marked in style at Holyrood Academy in Chard. Staff and sixth-formers wore red and a number of students were taught how to perform ‘hands-only’ CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).
First aid trained volunteers came into the schools and used ‘Resusci-Anne’ mannequins to demonstrate the technique and pass on the skills to as many youngsters as possible during break and lunchtime.
Head teacher Martin Brook said: “Many thanks go to 1610 Leisure staff at Cresta, Jackie Smith and Lucy Rickard, Lorraine Reeve, Fab Training first aid instructor in Taunton, and Dan Wilshire, paramedic with SWAST, for their support and the first aid trained staff and students at Holyrood Academy who made the day such a success.”
