THE dragon carving outside Taunton’s main library has been fixed after vandals damaged the sculpture last year.

The dragon, widely recognised as the county’s symbol, had part of its face and right ear knocked off.

Sculptor Philip Thomason, who designed the dragon, made from clay with stainless steel rods inside, said it took two days to fix.

He said: “The dragon has been there 18 years and it’s totally accessible to the weather and the public, so it has done very well not to be damaged so far in that time.
