AN armed burglar has admitted breaking into a neighbour’s house wielding a knife.

Ashley Grimstead, 34, forced his way into the home of Jamie Clarke a few doors down on Pear Tree Way, Wellington, with a kitchen knife in his hand.

Grimstead appeared at Taunton Crown Court via video link from Exeter prison on Monday (February 17) and admitted aggravated burglary.

Prosecuting, Janice Eagles told the court Grimstead broke into Mr Clarke’s house on November 11 last year with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm.

The case was adjourned while a pre-sentence report is prepared and Grimstead is due to appear again next month.
