PARENTS of pupils at The Oaks Nursery and year reception pupils at St Dubricius have been treated to a special performance.

The childrenhave been busy practising singing songs and rhymes as part of the Chatterbox Challenge initiative featuring cartoon character Humf.

The aim of the challenge is to improve communication and listening skills in young children and this is what they were demonstrating to parents.

Nursery teacher Lucy Walker-Blair said: “The children performed rhymes and songs including ‘Wind the Bobbin Up’ and the children entered completely into the spirit of the event.

“The sessions were great fun.”

Foundation Years specialist and deputy head teacher Alison Oakley added: “Our year reception and nursery children have really enjoyed collaborating on Chatterbox Challenge; and learning to join in.

“Mimic and rhyme is a wonderful way for a child to confidently experiment with new sounds and vocabulary.
