THE Zero Project will be rolling out the red carpet for their Oscars-themed under-18s Party on Wednesday, February 19 from 7pm to 11pm at Club Neo, Stars Lane, Yeovil.

Entry is £5 payable on the door.

Young clubbers are being encouraged to ‘be a film star for the night’ including getting ‘papped’ with their friends in the fun photo booth, supplied by local firm Funtasia Entertainment.

Zero has been successfully running under 18 events during school holidays for the past six years for year 9 students upwards and attracts young people from across Somerset and Dorset.

Cllr Ian Martin said: "I very much welcome the continuing success of this valuable facility for young people in and around Yeovil and am particularly pleased with the uptake of students wishing to become Young Promoters from the three Academy Schools in Yeovil."

The aim of the Zero project, which is supported by the local Police, District and County Councils, Somerset Drug and Alcohol Partnership, REACH, local schools, youth organisations and parents is to reduce anti-social and binge drinking by providing a safe, alcohol free environment where young people can enjoy a good night of music and dance.

This is done by carrying out breath testing and bag searches on entry.  Parents are expected to ensure that their children have a safe route home and the Zero team endeavours to ensure a safe passage to the nearby Stars Lane car park at the end of the evening.

A further Easter Party is being planned for Wednesday, April 9 at Club Neo.

Zero’s Young Promoter’s initiative involving year 9, 10 and 11 students from the three academy schools in Yeovil Mead has had a fantastic start with nine Young Promoters recruited.

The Young Promoters participate in the organising and promotion of Zero events and have been very much hands on with the forthcoming event.
