OVER 100 swimmers turned up to swim the distance from Burnham to Reading at Burnham's Rotary Club annual Swimarathon at Brean Splash.
There were 17 teams taking part consisting of a total of 110 swimmers, who swam a total between them of 4,554 lengths of the pool, or about 114km.
This is the third year the Swimarathon has been held and it has been getting more popular every year.
Jim Tancock, the organiser, said: “This has been the most successful Swimarathon yet. The Club is grateful to the owners and staff of Brean Splash for their hospitality and facilities, to the sponsors of the medals awarded to participants and to everyone else who worked so hard to make this event a success”
A team from BARB had to withdraw at a late stage as its members were on flood rescue duty.
The teams' final sponsorship totals have not yet been calculated but the amount raised is believed to be over £2,500.
