STAFF and students from one of the largest technical and business colleges in Denmark have been visiting Somerset College.

The group of 23 were all first year carpentry students studying a Danish international vocational qualification, part of which includes visiting other areas of Europe.

The two week visit was arranged as part of a new relationship being developed between the two colleges, and will include a return trip, where Somerset College students will visit Tradium College in Denmark.

Marc Smith, curriculum area manager for construction at Somerset College, said: “This was a fantastic experience for both colleges, and we are really exciting about the further development of this partnership.

“The Danish party were really impressed with the high standard of our carpentry and joinery workshops, staff and students.

“Exchange programmes such as this, are particularly enriching for our students and will provide them with the opportunity to experience cultures and techniques of construction within different parts of Europe.”
