3:11pm Monday 10th February 2014 in News
THE FLAG team are asking people making donations to hold off as they are running out of storage space and for those people who have been impacted by the floods to pick up the items they need.
Alfred Van Pelt from FLAG said: "Myself and the team at FLAG cannot thank people enough for their kindness and generosity in the amount of donations we have had, everything from food, clothes, toys and bedding.
"But now need to get people to hold the donations as we have limited storage space and we urge people that have been impacted by the floods to go and pick up the items they need.
"We would like to thank Britannia Lanes and the team their for the storage and immense help they have given to FLAG.
"We also want to thank other local businesses such as Langdons who helped us pick up the donations, and to local caterers and supermarkets who have provided much needed food for the volunteers and the residents."
Cllr Justine Baker said:"The operation at FLAG is immense and awe inspiring.
"A big thanks has to go to everyone who has donated, given up their time and to many local businesses in Bridgwater and across Somerset for all the support they have given, it really is very humbling to see.
"It shows how brilliantly the community has come together from all angles to help those affected by the floods.
"Now we need those people that have been living in this terrible situation for weeks to come and collect the items they need, there is everything from clothes, pet food, bedding, food and even toys.
"Please if you or someone you know has been impacted by the floods please can they go to Britannia Lanes, Crossways Bridgwater and pick up items.
"We do ask for them to bring ID to prove where they live and for only those that have been affected by the floods to go along.
"Britannia are open for collections from 9am - 4pm thanks to Ria and the team of volunteers and staff for sorting and taking all the donations in."
