A PROJECT has been launched to give Milverton play area a much-needed makeover.

The village’s recreation ground committee has teamed up with the parish council to raise funds to buy new equipment.

Mike Sheppard, chairman of the committee, said: “Our existing equipment is enjoyed by many children, however, we are hoping the equipment we intend to purchase will have a real ‘wow!’ factor for the young people, enabling them to continue to enjoy themselves in a safe environment.”

Jenny Hoyle, who is helping on behalf of the parish council, added: “We will have to work hard to achieve the target and hoping we will be able to obtain some outside funding to go towards what can be raised within the parish.

“The children at school have already offered to have cake sales and this will all help to achieve the target.”
