Volunteers needed for Chard community speed watch scheme

VOLUNTEERS are being asked to come forward to start a community speedwatch group for the High Street and Snowdon Heights area of the town.

PCSO Julie Middleditch is hoping to generate enough support among local people and to tackle the issue of speeding motorists.

The community speedwatch scheme – a partnership between the community, the police, the fire service, parish council and county council – gives people the ability to actively engage in road safety in their area.

Anyone who would like to be involved and can spare some time each week to monitor speeds with speed detection equipment in a bid to discourage drivers to slow down should get in touch.

Visit www.avonandsomerset.police.uk and search community speed watch or contact PCSO Middleditch at Chard police station by calling 101.
