APPLICATION rates to university for 18-year-olds are at their highest ever, according to UCAS.
Some 34.8% of 18-year-olds applied in 2013 with the application rate from disadvantaged areas rising to 20.7%.
This means 18-year-olds in the most disadvantaged areas are nearly twice as likely to apply for college than they were ten years ago.
