WHEN Geoff Hornsby was born, petrol cost 8p a gallon, beer was 3p a pint and the average wage was £1.17p per week.
Now, 100 years on, things have most certainly changed.
Geoff, of Calder Crescent, Taunton celebrated becoming a centenarian at home with his family, before heading to the Greyhound Inn at Staple Fitzpaine.
He started his working life at JW Greens, later Flowers Brewery, in Luton, Bedfordshire before joining the Fleet Air Arm at the beginning of the Second World War, serving as a petty officer.
Geoff then trained as an electrical engineer and worked in Bedfordshire, before retiring to Devon, Stratford and then Taunton.
