THE pub watch in Burnham is still ongoing, despite a partner providing radio links to CCTV operators withdrawing their support.

Andy Sharman, co-ordinator of Somerset Businesses Against Crime, stopped supporting the pub watch when the pubs stopped paying their fees for the radio links.

Simon Hillman, assistant manager at The Railway in Burnham, said: “The pub watch still runs. We just thought the radios cost too much.”

The pub watch still runs in co-ordination with the police. Mr Hillman said: “The police are fantastic around here, especially Tracy Stiles, a beat officer in Burnham.”

Andy Pritchard, the new neighbourhood inspector for Sedgemoor, said: “The pub watch is there. It’s just one of the supporting partners isn’t actively supporting it anymore.”
