WESTERN Power Distribution has applied to Sedgemoor District Council to connect a power line to a solar farm.

The firm wants to install two electricity poles and a transformer on land west of Brookhayes Farm, Bell Lane, Cossington, to form a connection between the existing power line and a solar farm.

Maybe I am reading this wrong but - What is the point of a solar farm if it is not connected to the power grid? Surely when plans are submitted to build these farms they incorporate such connections and therefore a separate planning application shouldn't be required.
